The Chiefs have gotten a lot of hate through the years, but ever since Taylor Swift showed up, she is being blamed for them going out of style. Taylor Swift seems to be the main problem with their fans, but the fans themselves seem to be angrier at the Chiefs as far as this year goes. Others seem to think otherwise about these assumptions of the hate they are getting, so it’s best to ask some fans and foes about this hate situation and get to the bottom of what they think about it overall, starting with the football team’s assistant coach, Josh Perkins.
“I think people are tired of [the Chiefs]”, Perkins said, “they’d like to see their own team win. The Chiefs continuously win and, you know, back to back super bowls, and they are undefeated right now.” Saying this, he doesn’t want to make the teams feel like their efforts on beating the Chiefs aren’t enough, but rather he wants to make it known that it can be annoying to see a team win in a super bowl twice in a row, especially with the new obstacles in the way of the Chiefs’ streak. The “Obstacles” are also a problem with these angered people, who others don’t believe is true or a bother to the chiefs. Believing this gives support to these people with different opinions in a way that makes the Chiefs sound like they are a positive and inspiring team that handles hate well.
When asked if she thinks that the Chiefs care about the hate, junior Kinzlie Keyes said, “no, because I think that they’re used to people saying anything.I think that they’ve learned how to deal with it.” Keyes, despite being a cheerleader and not knowing much about the Chiefs hate, still shows her support towards the team as someone who doesn’t play football.
When asked the same question, junior Isa Marquez said, “probably they do, but I mean at the end of the day they’re still good.” For someone who goes for the 49ers, it really shows how she believes that the Chiefs can care but still put effort and push through in this new season. “Nah, they get paid to play football.” Junior Jordan Berry said. Berry believes that they’re only handling it well because of the money they get out of it.
Although it may be true, they still carry on with what they are expected to do, which is to win, make people happy, and forget about the hate. But if the winning is not enough for these fans and the hate somehow does get to them, who would be on top instead of the Chiefs?
“I would say the Dallas cowboys. I feel like you either love the Dallas cowboys or you hate the Dallas cowboys.” Perkins said, agreeing with him is Marquez saying, “The Dallas cowboys. They’re the cowboys, no one likes the cowboys.” So for pity they pick the worst team to show how rough the chiefs could have handled the hate from being the best to being below the Dallas Cowboys. This is only to have an idea about how the chiefs could fall off with everything thrown at them. There is no hate concluded for the Dallas Cowboys.
“The 49ers are way better.” Marquez said, “Our players are better. Our quarterback is better.” She means no hate on the chiefs, this is another team suggestion. Even though she prefers the 49ers and “they’re a good team. I just don’t like to say they’re a good team.” Marquez said, “I think [Fans] are just trying to kinda make it all about [Taylor Swift] and Travis dating so it’s kinda annoying.” Really she does have a soft spot for the team just not for the drama. She believes that the fans are wanting something to chew on to feed the Taylor swift fans who also happen to be chiefs fans which their hate is ruining swift’s reputation as Kelce’s girlfriend.
“I think equally hate and more popularity just because obviously people are always gonna want better for Taylor.” Keyes said, “but then like Chiefs fans will also, I think they like it.”
Agreeing with Marquez, Keyes also believes that the fans are in it for the drama since Swift is now involved with Travis Kelce. “I think Travis Kelce is good enough to know the difference and like focus on the game.” Keyes said.
On the other hand with the hate especially on Kelce she believes that he can and has handled the drama well ever since they started dating. Aside from the drama and the hate Perkins says, “I think it’s good for them just to keep their attitude that they’ve always had. We’ll show up and we’ll play on the field. There’s no reason to talk when business is getting done in winning games”
He believes it’s good for the chiefs to receive the hate to boost up their motive to be better and keep on improving along the way of all their careers as a team. Overall these people really do care about the chiefs and their opinions are valid enough to prove that the chiefs are trying their best.
