The 61st GRAMMY Awards aired on January 26. Performers for this year included Billie Eilish, Camila Cabello, Ariana Grande, the Jonas Brothers, Lizzo, and more. BTS was announced as a performer on January 23 and fans were disappointed to find out that they were not going to have their own performance, but would be performing ‘Old Town Road’ with Lil Nas X and other artists.

BTS fans were desperately hoping that the group would get the recognition they deserve. BTS went to the GRAMMY Awards last year, but only to present an award, not receive one or perform. The band has previously mentioned that they would really like to win a GRAMMY award or perform, but their performance was not what the fans were expecting when they were first announced as performers.

The performance started with Lil Nas X in a living room set, then turned to the BTS members providing back-up vocals while Lil Nas X and RM sang a bit of ‘Seoul Town Road,’ which ended up taking about 30 seconds. Near the end of the performance, everyone was gathered on stage singing ‘Old Town Road,’ and this part was about 15-20 seconds long. BTS was on stage for less than a minute total.

The band also entered to be nominated in the following categories: “Song of the Year,” “Record of the Year,” “Album of the Year,” “Best Pop Duo/Group Performance,” “Best Music Video,” “Best Pop Vocal Album,” and “Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media.” They entered into many categories but were not even nominated for an award. BTS puts so much work into all of their music and performances and the BTS ARMY is extremely disappointed because BTS did not get the recognition that they deserve.
