Wrestling team places ninth at state

The wrestling team finished in ninth place at the state tournament on Feb. 24 in Wichita.

According to Conor Fitzgerald, head coach, this is their second consecutive top 10 finish at state, which has not happened for the team for over a decade.

Eleven wrestlers went to state, and Dallas Koelzer, sophomore; Nick Jouret and Jace Koelzer, seniors, advanced to the championship semifinals.

Gavin Brown, sophomore, took third place in the 6A 145-pound bracket along with Dallas Koelzer placing sixth place in the 120-pound bracket.

Jace Koelzer claimed his second state title, ending his season with 158 wins. Jouret also claimed his second state title and finished with 169 wins.
