Important dates for seniors to know

As the year draws to a close, so do many senior dates and events.

On Feb. 22, a senior meeting will be held in the auditorium to vote on awards such has who is most likely to be a T.V. host or who is most likely to be a professional sports player. More serious awards will also be included in the voting.

Prom will be held at Embassy Suites on April 21 with the after prom being held after Prom from 11:30 p.m. to 2 a.m. at the high school.

Seniors do not have to pay to attend Prom because the Junior Class fundraised for the Senior Class.

Senior awards ceremony will be held on April 9 at 7:30 p.m. Local scholarship winners and academic honors, such as the Faculty Award and the Board of Education Award, will be awarded at the ceremony.

The senior outing will be held at Power Play on April 23. Although most of the cost has been paid for by Homecoming dance money, seniors will be asked to contribute $10.

Power Play is an “optional activity designed to give an opportunity for seniors to have fun before everyone goes their separate way,” Lauri Plankers , Senior Class sponsor, said.

The last day for seniors will be on May 15. A senior breakfast will be provided. Graduation practice will then be held after the awards, which they voted for on Feb 22, are handed out to seniors.

Graduation will be held on May 20 at 2 p.m. at ODAC. Project Graduation will then be held from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. at the Matt Ross Community Center at Overland Park.
