Staff offers Prom ideas and advice

With Prom just around the corner, the Eyrie staff has some suggestions.

Juniors and seniors on the staff were asked what they think is the most important when planning Prom. Many said having good music is essential.

A few staff members who attended Prom last year stated that they would change the music that was played. The DJ last year did not really respond to requests; he just played his own list.

With that being said, the staff might be pleased this year because the Prom Committee is accepting music requests via Twitter at OSProm_2k17. This year the DJ will build his play list based on songs submitted. Anyone can submit music suggestions, but they need to be aware that the music needs to be school appropriate.

It is also important to plan one’s own Prom night with the consideration of time.

If one wishes to take part in other activities before the dance, such as going to dinner and taking pictures, it is essential to manage time.

Another thing students should remember is to manage their spending. With dresses, tuxes, corsages and so on, the amount one spends for Prom can add up. So it is important to set a budget and stick to that budget. Some staff members have set a budget of $100-$200.

Lastly, students should keep in mind the people they are attending Prom with. The amount of enjoyment one experiences at Prom can be set by the people he/she goes with.
