Of the approximately 60 girls who tried out for drill team, 45 made the team; 30 will be on the varsity team and 15 will be on the freshman team.

Clinics took place on March 6-8, and the actual tryout was on March 9. The tryout process took about three hours, and no one could leave until everyone had tried out. The coaches posted the results later that day. The requirements for trying out for the dance team are that the person can’t have failed any classes in the fall and must have at least a 2.5 GPA.

To try out for the dance team, the girls had to learn a full dance and a turn, kick and leap combination over a three-day period. On the fourth day, they went into the gym in groups of three or four. One by one they had to do the leap combination till reaching the center of the gym, then a kick combination and then a turn combination. Once each person finished, then everyone performed the dance together.

Ali Plankers who leads the varsity dance team will be moving next year to Olathe West to run that dance team as the head coach. Victoria Palomino who is head coach for the freshman dance team is going to be moving up to be the head varsity coach next year for the Golden Girls. Jessica Colson who helps the freshman team out this year will become the full time freshman coach.

Next year’s varsity team includes juniors Melissa Allio, Maddie Brown, Hanna Carney, Haley Dunitz, Lindsey Eddings, Sarah Porter, Ariana Harland, Kelsi Toy, Sophie Trimboli and Holly Welch;

sophomores Rylee Baldwin, Ellie Bickley, Linnea Carlson, Meadow Eddleman, Sydney Etheridge, Hailey Pruett, Caroline Rodrigiez, Kennedy Shaffer, Jordan Hause, Carly Howard, Jenna Marion, Emily Straub, Ellie Wheeler, Grace Reinoehl, Delayne McDaniel and Jordan Hause; and freshmen Emma Stewart, Brecken Schumer, Bailey Haines, Jennifer Pham, Maddy Carlson, Bailey Clopton, Abby Morris, Elyse Musil, Becca Pierson, Rebecca Porter, Katie Sena, Taylor Sonner, Emmalyn Geier, Kelly Hipsher, Megan Jones Carly Kreicbergs, Halle Trimboli, Abby Van Hercke, Reagan Wiley and Jillian Wrisinger.
