Johnson Poon, senior, knows what it means to be involved.

Poon is a member of a myriad of clubs and activities, with DECA being his most prominent.

He has competed at the DECA international competition for personal financial literacy as well as the stock market game.

He values the new connections he is able to make with the people he interacts with through DECA as well as the leadership skills he has been able to develop.

“The best part about DECA is the networking you make with the judges. People from all over come from very different backgrounds to judge,” Poon said.

On top of DECA and the many other extracurricular activities that he is a part of, Poon is in four AP classes and works after school and on weekends. He has worked at China Inn for the past two years.

A loaded schedule has required him to learn how  to prioritize.

“I use my agenda and stick to a schedule to time it all out,” Poon said.

Looking ahead, Poon plans to attend the University of Missouri Kansas City to study dentistry.

He hopes that his constant involvement during high school will help him excel in college as well.
