Homecoming week culminated with the crowing of the king and queen, Cooper Reves and Grace Williams, seniors, at the Homecoming game Oct. 7.

The week started with blue and gold dress up day; the freshmen and sophomores wore gold and the juniors and seniors wore blue.

Other dress-up days included Kansas City sports on Tuesday, a holiday day on Wednesday, American day on Thursday and Friday was tacky tourist day.

Students were introduced to the Homecoming court at a pep assembly on Tuesday, Oct. 4. The senior candidates, other than Reves and Williams, were Paige Etheridge, Cooper Dammrich, Makayla Gooch, Scott DuBrow, Lexi Nelson, Drake Minter, Courtney Saysiri and Caio Silva.

Junior attendants were Jamie Bortz and Kyle Kersten; sophomore attendants were Emily Cords and Kameron James-Rose; and the freshman attendants were Anna Hasting and Gavin Hoedl.

The junior girls upset the seniors 14-0 at the annual Powder Puff game on Wednesday from 6:15-7 p.m. Damon Bell, SRO, coached the juniors, and Ali Plankers, FACS teacher, and John Plankers, foreign language teacher, coached the seniors.

After the game, students attended the bonfire and a mixer from 7-8:30 p.m., which featured a DJ. Students could enjoy the glow of the bonfire outside, mix with friends and dance to upbeat music.

Unfortunately, the Falcon football team lost the Homecoming game to Lawrence, 10-42.

But the crowd was there to show school spirit. At the beginning of the game, the student section threw black dust into the air and chanted, “I believe that we will win.”

Laurie Plankers, Senior Class sponsor, said, “The stands were full to support the team.”

About 1,200 students attended the Homecoming dance on Saturday, a larger crowd than in recent years. The theme was “Fall Harvest” ; tickets were $20 per couple and $10 per person.
