Scholarship: John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Essay Scholarship

Deadline: Jan. 7

Amount: $500-$10,000

Criteria: Available to grades 9-12. Applicants must register online and write an essay about the political courage of a U.S. official who served during or after 1956. Registration form is required with the submission of essay.

 

Scholarship: Hidden Glen Arts Festival Scholarship

Deadline: March 3

Amount: $1,000

Criteria: Available to seniors who demonstrate a genuine interest in pursuing a career in the visual arts. All applicants must apply online.

 

Scholarship: Kathleen Macoubrie Smith Scholarship

Deadline: March 3

Amount: $1,000

Criteria: Available to seniors who plan to major in English or education with an emphasis in English at the University of Kansas. All applicants must apply online.

 

Scholarship: Keith E. Barnes Memorial Scholarship

Deadline: March 3

Amount: $10,000

Criteria: Available to students who plan to study science at the university of their choice. All applicants must apply online.

 

Scholarship: National Merit Scholarship

Deadline: When one takes the PSAT or NSMQT junior year

Amount: $2,500

Criteria: Available to students taking the PSAT or NMSQT. Students must be enrolled in a fulltime high school schedule, progressing toward completion and planning to enter college no later than the fall after graduation. Applicants must take the PSAT or NMSQT no later than their junior year.
