Halloween consists of some of my favorite nostalgic movies of all time. These movies are absolutely incredible and hold so many memories. These are movies that can be watched over and over again and have so many different movie styles to spice up your movie watching during the Halloween season. From funny and spooky to creepy and crawly, these 4 Halloween movies are some of my favorites.

Hocus Pocus follows a boy named Max and his younger sister after they move to Salem, where he awakens three diabolical witches who were executed in the 17th century. Hocus Pocus came out in 1993, with a PG rating, and is an amazing Halloween movie directed by Kenny Ortega.
If you watch this iconic film, the three Sanderson sisters will certainly “put a spell on you.” Watching the three sisters being extremely confused about everything happening at the time after being awakened almost 300 years after their deaths is extremely funny. The set is magical and even after watching it over and over again, I am just as entertained as I was the very first time that I watched it. I grew up watching Hocus Pocus and can remember sitting down in the living room with my family watching it as the fall leaves fell outside the windows. Even now, I get to watch my younger sister enjoy the movie that I spent year after year enjoying during October.

Coraline is an 11 year old girl who ventures into another world that appears to be the ideal home life, but little does she know, sinister secrets are about to come to light. Coraline was released in 2009 with a PG rating. It was directed by Henry Selick and it is definitely a disturbing one.
Despite its disturbing nature, this movie is incredible. The stop-motion film work is mind blowing and it's crazy to think that this movie is a bunch of pictures of clay figurines. The story is truly amazing, giving the viewer the idea that “The Other World” is everything that this young girl could want, but quickly and magically proving that wrong. The colors and entire setting of the movie is eerie, it holds so much sophistication and blows my mind. While this movie does have a PG rating, this isn’t a movie for little kids. It's a bit disturbing and might scare them. Other than that, this movie is truly amazing and had me hooked from the very beginning.

The Nightmare Before Christmas is a stop-motion film where Jack Skellington, the Pumpkin King of Halloween town, is bored of his yearly shenanigans and becomes infatuated with Christmas. This film made its way into the world in 1993 and received a PG rating. This is another one of Selick’s movies and deserves a place in the spotlight at Halloween… and Christmas.
I have watched this movie every year for as long as I can remember. Sitting on the couch, feeling the crisp fall air through the open window, or even watching white peaks form, and singing along to the songs I've spent every year listening to. This movie is certainly a masterpiece that includes some of the most amazing things: halloween, christmas, santa claus, and a hilarious skeleton that's relatable on so many levels. This movie is highly re-watchable, contains catchy songs and is a dream come true with the combination of my two favorite holidays. With this being a Tim Burton film, it definitely shows his “weird” style. It also amplifies the idea of “the grass is always greener in someone else’s yard.” Burton and Selick did an exceptional job creating this movie and some would even say that it's an animated classic.

Corpse Bride follows a shy groom who inadvertently raises a deceased bride from the dead who assumes he is her husband. Corpse Bride was directed by Tim Burton and Mike Johnson, it was released in 2005, is once again rated PG, and it includes some amazing voice actors like Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter.
Corpse Bride is once again a movie that I have watched every year during this time for as long as I can remember. The interesting look of the characters depicts the perfect Burton style and is something that is worth remembering. Their tall, skinny bodies, and deep hollowed features depict those of the dead. It is a beautiful movie, with an incredible setting and storyline. It shows deep, raw emotions, expressed in a way that leaves you feeling sympathetic towards these made up characters. Though the storyline isn't the best in the world, what Burton does with the characters and how the voice acting is done makes up for it entirely. Both do an amazing job portraying each character in their own unique and dark way. The film is beautifully crafted, breathes real emotions, and is a work of dark art.
