Girls basketball—

The team is still having a great season with a record of 12-4. They played Shawnee Mission East on Feb. 10 and won 61-22. The week before, they played Leavenworth at home, where the they received their third loss of the season, losing 47-34.

They also had a very successful stretch of away games in the McPherson Tournament. They beat Hays 76-27. Next, they played Manhattan in the semi-final and won 54-50. Finally, they faced McPherson in the championship game, winning 56-41.

Boys basketball—

The boys varsity basketball team has improved to 7-6 overall and participated in an invitational tournament in Topeka Jan 22-24.

On Jan. 26, the team lost to Olathe North 60-45. The next day the varsity boys were up against Wyandotte at home. Zack Fields, junior, point guard led the way with 16 points as the team went on to win 64-58.

A week later on Feb. 6, the team battled with Leavenworth, but put them away in the end 51-26 to win. The team’s next game is today against Olathe Northwest.

Wrestling—

The wrestling team had its Senior Night on Feb. 4 when they beat Lawrence High 51-42, meaning they won over half their matches.

Varsity wrestlers Pearce Kinzer, senior, placed first at 195 pounds, and Tyler Jouret, senior, placed third at 182 pounds.

Junior varsity wrestlers Nick Jouret, freshman, placed first at 152 pounds, and Jace Koelzer, freshman, placed third at 106 pounds.

Swimming—

The boys swim team competed at the Sunflower League Championships on Feb. 6-7. Max Stoneking, sophomore, took third place in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:02.77. Kyle Frank, senior achieved a state-qualifying time in the 100 butterfly and took eighth place with a time of 57.14. In the 100 breastroke, Luke Wardle, junior, took fourth place with a time of 1:03.32.

Next up is the state meet in Topeka on Feb. 20-21.

Bowling—

In bowling competition, the varsity girls placed first; the junior varsity girls, varsity boys and the junior varsity boys placed second at their fifth meet on Feb. 2 at Olathe Lanes East. Makaela Harmon, senior, bowled a 532 point series for the varsity girls team. Justin Maxwell, junior, had a 682 series and Quentin Miller, senior, bowled a 572 series for the varsity boys team. Brett Schilly, freshman, scored the highest among the junior varsity boys with a 526 series.

The team will next be in action on Feb. 24 for regionals at College Lanes.
