5 Binge-worthy Korean dramas on Netflix

Korean dramas are extremely binge-worthy. The emotional connections that viewers have with the shows are very intense and most episodes end on cliffhangers, Most Korean dramas are 16-20 episodes long with hour-long episodes, making them perfect for binge watching.  If you have not binged an entire Korean drama in less than two days yet, here are some suggestions that might make you do so.

“Rookie Historian Goo Hae Ryung” is a historical drama full of comedy and romance. Shin Se-kyung and Cha Eun-woo play the roles of Goo Hae Ryung and Prince Lee Rim. Set in the 19th century, the drama tells the story of Goo Hae Ryung and her work as one of the first female historians. Goo Hae Ryung’s boss assigns her to record what Lee Rim does everyday, and she becomes closer to him in the process. She also wants to prove to the world that everyone is equal as she fulfills her duties as one of the first female historians.

In “Crash Landing On You,” heiress Yoon Se-ri (Son Ye-jin) is paragliding and a tornado causes her to make an emergency landing. Se-ri wakes up in a tree, and North Korean army officer Ri Jeong-hyeok (Hyun Bin) finds her, but he does not turn her in to the government right away. Afraid of the consequences, Ri Jeong-hyeok decides to hide Yoon Se-ri until he can safely bring her back home to South Korea. This drama is full of romance, comedy, mystery, and suspense, and it will make you cry. If you are going to binge any of the shows on this list, make sure to watch this one.

“It’s Okay to Not Be Okay” is about Moon Sang-tae (Kim Soo-hyun), a man working in a psychiatric ward; his older brother Moon Kang-tae (Oh Jung-se), who has autism; and Ko Moon-young (Seo Ye-ji), a popular children’s book author who has antisocial personality disorder. Moon Kang-tae and Moon Sang-tae have been moving around every few years because Sang-tae had witnessed their mother’s murder and the two brothers ran away. When Ko Moon-young realizes that she knew Kang-tae when she was a child, she develops a romantic obsession with him. This drama follows the trio as they heal each other’s wounds, comfort each other, and solve the mystery of who murdered the brothers’ mother. “It’s Okay to Not Be Okay” is full of mystery and romance, and will most likely make you cry.

In “Cinderella and the Four Knights,” Eun Ha-won lives with her evil stepmother and sister. She ends up meeting three rich and immature young men who are cousins, and their grandpa pays her a hefty sum to live with them and look after their behavior under one condition: she can’t date any of them. This drama is a romantic comedy that tells the story of Ha-won, the three cousins, and the friendships that form between them.

“Abyss” is about Cha Min, who died in an accident, and Go Se-yeon, who was murdered. The two come back to life, but the bodies they have are ones they don’t recognize. The supernatural beings who revived them give them an orb called an “Abyss.” It can revive people, but it gives them new appearances. Using the Abyss, Cha Min and Go Se-yeon try to find Go Se-yeon’s murderer. “Abyss” is full of mystery, comedy, and romance, and will definitely make you want to binge it.
