Patrick Mahomes, Chiefs quarterback, tallied his 5,000th receiving yard and his 50th touchdown of the season as the Kansas City Chiefs obliterated the Oakland Raiders at home 35-3.
Mahomes passed both milestones on the same play: an 89-yard touchdown pass to Demarcus Robinson, Chiefs wide receiver. The only other time a quarterback had 50 touchdown passes and 5000 passing yards in a season was in 2013 when Peyton Manning, then-Broncos quarterback, passed for 55 touchdowns and 477 yards.
Tyreek Hill, Chiefs wide receiver, had a 67-yard touchdown reception and a 15-yard rushing touchdown. He finished the game with 101 receiving yards and finished the regular season as the Chiefs’ single-season leader in receiving yards with 1,479 yards.
Travis Kelce, Chiefs tight end, briefly held the league record for receiving yards by a tight end after the game, but lost it later to George Kittle, 49ers tight end. He received for 62 yards.
Damien Williams, Chiefs running back, ran for 51 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries. Darrell Williams, Chiefs running back, ran for 31 yards on as many carries.
If the Kansas City scoring barrage was not enough to beat the Raiders, their turnovers sealed the game for sure.
Oakland had two fumbles which were recovered by Allen Bailey, Chiefs defensive end, and Justin Houston, Chiefs linebacker. They also had two interceptions, and one of those became a 54-yard pick six by Daniel Sorensen, Chiefs safety. The other interception was returned for 67 yards by Reggie Ragland, Chiefs linebacker.
The only score Oakland had against the Chiefs was a 50-yard field goal by Daniel Carlson, Raiders kicker.
