Tracksters qualify for state at regional meet

The girls track team earned a regional championship at the 6A regional track and field competition Friday, May 18, at Blue Valley High School, and the boys team placed fourth.

Many of the team members qualified to compete at the 6A state tournament to be held this Friday and Saturday, May 25-26, at Wichita State University.

Girls who qualified include the following:

  • Brock Allen: 4×100 relay and the 4×400 relay
  • Maddy Bachtold: discus
  • Angelina Butler: discus
  • Aaliyah Pierce: shot put
  • Olivia Barbosa: high jump
  • Riley Degner: 4×100 relay
  • Mandy Truitt: high jump
  • Izzy Pierce: long jump, triple jump and the 4×400 relay
  • Hailey Pittman: 4×100 relay & the 4×400 relay
  • Sophie Reed: 200 meter dash, the 4×100 relay & the 4×400 relay
  • Nicole Ndubshi: 4×100 relay
  • Jaelynn Nathaniel:  4×100 relay
  • Helmi Vuorimaa: 800 meter run and the 4×400 relay
  • Dani Winslow: high jump, 300 IH and the 4X400 relay

Boys who qualified include the following:

  • AJ Shields: 110 high hurdles, the 300 intermediate hurdles and the 4×400 relay
  • Jeremiah Tesfaye: 800 meter run & the 4×800 relay
  • Nolan McKay: 4×400 relay & the 4×800 relay
  • Myles Nash: high jump
  • Emmanuel Okwuone: 300 intermediate hurdles and the 4×400 relay
  • Jamison Phelps: 4×400 relay
  • Joseph Pippins: long jump
  • Lucas Shyrock: 4×800 relay
  • Tyler Wilson: 4×400 relay and the 4×800 relay
  • Damien Tolbert: discus
  • Logan Woodside: 400 meter dash and the 4×400 relay
  • Riley Vandaveer: 4×800 relay
  • Sean Yake: 4×800 relay

The coaches encourage students to wish these athletes luck for the upcoming state competition.
