Last weekend the forensics team competed and had seven students advance to finals and four in sweepstakes against 20 teams.

There are 13 events for forensic competitions. Ben Heigele, junior, qualified for state in the U.S. extemporaneous speaking, along with Logan Hartwell, sophomore, in informative speech.

To qualify for state, a student must place in the top two or three in finals. Nationals are in June, and students must go to the district competition and place in order to qualify.

Cathy Smith, coach, said, “We did very good at the tournament. The younger students have shown improvement, and the veterans are doing consistently well.”
