The spring play, “Spoon River Anthology,” was performed on March 1-3, and the cast and crew was thrilled with their product. It was directed by Dr. Max Brown.

Dr. Brown is a retired high school theater teacher, and a close friend of David Hastings, producer and theater teacher.

The show is a haunting tale of the people of Spoon River, Ill., who have passed. Each character shares their story in hopes that the audience will learn from their mistakes.

“The show takes you through so many journeys of love, loss, and life,” Cara Gibbs, senior, said.

Nick Harris, junior, found the rehearsal process “weird” because Brown has a different way of running things compared to Hastings.

Samantha Throneberry, senior, said working with Brown was “amazing” because she got to learn new things and see how different directors teach and want you to act.

“It was a great performance and definitely a show I have learned from” Throneberry said.

The cast and crew rehearsed starting after winter break, and rehearsals were not always held with the entire cast and crew present.

“It’s stressful doing a show at the end of the year, because by this time everyone has lost a lot of energy so we really got to try and keep our spirits high,” Harris said.

Everyone who was involved with the show raved about the talent within the cast and crew

“Listening to all the different monologues with a cast so talented makes it such an interesting experience,” Harris said.
