The past and present of South basketball has always been competitive.

Last year, head basketball coach, Dan Morrow, decided to start an alumni basketball tournament to give past players a chance to compete at south again.

“The reason I did this was to get old players back and have a reunion,” Morrow said.

The idea was to have a tournament of all past players, boys and girls, and see who would come out on top. All the games and past games have been very “competitive” according to Morrow.

It was a single elimination tournament held on April 14-15, with this year being the second year Morrow has done the tournament. Morrow was able to get players from 1997 through 2016 to play.

40 players participated and five teams competed over a two-day span. The 2011 alumni team came out with the victory. The 2012-2013 alumni were the first team knocked out of the tournament.
