Pop concert to be thrown by senior choir students
April 18, 2017
The date is set for the choir students’ annual Pops Concert, and auditions for the performers have been held.
The concert will take place on May 13 at 7 p.m. in the school auditorium. Family and friends are welcome to attend with no fee.
With 23 different acts that auditioned, the evening is expected to have big contrasts in the styles of music and a lot of different talent.
“Auditions this year were fantastic. The students were very prepared, and there was quite a bit of variety in the types of music that the students auditioned with,” Elise Peterson, choir teacher, said.
The Pops Concert, also known as the “Forever Falcon” concert, is a part of the choir’s yearly concert series; however, it is a very different style of concert.
Unlike the stress of contests and other events held during the spring, this concert offers a different style and a much more relaxed atmosphere for the performers.
The night includes solos, quartets, large group performances as well as the entire choir department and more; all singing different music from the ‘70s, ‘80s, ‘90s and ‘2000s.
All the music sung by performers in the concert is categorized by a theme that seniors in the choir class agreed upon earlier in the year.
The theme is different every year.
This year, the seniors in choir decided on “How do I get There From Here?” as the theme for the concert.
Along with seniors’ choosing a theme to the concert, the graduating class will be featured and recognized for their dedication as well as the hard work they did for the school over the years.
“This being one of the last performances for seniors, it has a lot of meaning to the students,” Peterson said.
