The Winter Formal culminated a week of activities on Saturday, Feb. 18, from 8-11 p.m.

It was hosted by Student Council and sponsored by Jennifer Schlicht and Shelley Bright. The winter dance had a DJ in the commons even though last year’s space-themed dance was in the North gym.

The dance was to raise awareness about cystic fibrosis, so all the money they raised was given to cystic fibrosis. Last year’s dance helped a boy who collected bandages by collecting bandages and money at the basketball game.

At the basketball game on Friday, the dance’s queen and king were announced, and they were Peyton Norwood and Trevor Morgan, seniors.

The varsity basketball team played Olathe Northwest at the Pink Out game. In the first quarter, they lead 13-8, and they lead at half-time 23-20, but ended with a loss of 44-51. They raised money for breast cancer research.

Monday was Pajama Day, then Twin Tuesday, Western Wednesday, Grandparents Day on Thursday, and the week ended with Middle School Day on Friday.

The pep assembly on Friday introduced the Winter Court for each grade.

The senior Winter Court candidates for queen were Norwood, Lindsey Bartles, Peyton Boxberger, Erin Cantrell, Ellie Stanley and for king were Morgan, Kevin Dankyi, Nick Hinman, and Jacob Johnston.

For the freshmen, it was Hannah Hoeven and Max Reves, sophomores Maya Burke and Johnathan Swanson, and juniors Emily Salinas and Braden Rhoades.
