‘A Dog’s Purpose’ a good enough family film

“A Dog’s Purpose” is a comedy-drama movie about a dog who reincarnates into different lives and transitions between different owners.

While the film is nothing spectacular, it is an great family movie that can be enjoyed by adults and kids alike.

The movie follows the story of Bailey (voiced by Josh Gad), a dog who reincarnates into another dog everytime he dies.

The film follows Bailey through four of his lives as he transitions through different owners and goes through different experiences. On his fouth life, Biley finds his first owner, Eric (Dennis Quaid), whose life has been ruined due to tragic circumstances. The rest of the film focuses on Bailey helping Eric put his life back together.

One of the strengths of “A Dog’s Purpose” is its emotional scenes. The relationship between Eric and Bailey is well developed, and viewers will be invested in the hardships they both go trhough. The way Eric’s life falls apart and the way him and Bailey reunite will make emotional viewers cry.

However, viewers should know what they’getting into when they go to see “A Dog’s Purpose.” The story is a somewhat cliché and predicatble. The story of a talking dog helping his family has been done before in films such as “Fluke (1995)” and “The Shaggy Dog (2006).” Viewers who have seen these types of movies before will not find anything new in “A Dog’s Purpose,” and they might find themselves annoyed at the film attempting to use cutes animals to try to make them feel sad.

Those looking for a movie with cute dogs and an emotional story to watch with their families will enjoy “A Dog’s Purpose,” while those looking for something new more serious should turn to one of the other blockbuster movies out there.
