How does Justin Wastler show his love for science ?
November 2, 2016
Justin Wastler, senior, has a passion for science, and being in Green Team and PCA allows him to share that love for science with others.
Wastler joined the Green Team because he was looking for something science-related to get involved with. He enjoys the farm atmosphere that cultivating vegetables in Green Team offers.
“I actually own a farm,” Wastler said. “My family owns 110 acres in Hamilton, Mo. We grow corn and soy beans, and the rest we use for timber and to hunt turkey and deer occasionally.”
Being a hunter is one of the reason Wastler is so passionate about nature.
“I wake up at 5 in the morning, walk for 20 minutes to get to my stand, climb 20 feet, and stay still in 0-degree weather hoping some animal walks by,” he said.
He joined PCA because one of his teachers recommended the club to him, but he stayed because of the connections the club allows him to make.
“I enjoy being able to connect with my science-interested peers,” Wastler said. “Being in Green Team and PCA has given me a chance to work on projects, design things, work on managing, work with other people, etc.”
Wastler wants to be a game warden (a police officer who regulates hunting and hunting game in a particular area) after he finishes high school.
