New shows will keep you glued to the TV: The Exorcist

About five years ago the notorious Halloween topic was vampires; two years ago it was zombies; this year it is the possessed.

With Halloween just around the corner, the new hit T.V. show ”The Exorcist” seems to be taking advantage of people’s spooky holiday spirit.

This Fox series takes a modern spin on the popular horror film “The Exorcist.”

The show centers around a family and its daughter, who has been overcome by a demonic spirit. They seek guidance from their priest.

Though it is clear that the show’s intentions are to scare its audience, due to strict regulations passed by broadcasting, the show is far from petrifying. The only adjective that can be used to describe the show is creepy, maybe even thrilling, but most certainly not scary.

Before I began the show, the first question that came to mind was “how is it going to be possible to have a season two?” But after I watched the first few episodes, it has become apparent that multiple story lines are going on.

Having different plots within the series might at first seem confusing and hard to follow, but in my opinion, it was probably one of the smartest things the writers could have done. As one story line concludes, another one can continue into the next season as a new one develops.

Although at times the script seemed a bit dull and predictable, I still found myself becoming interested in the plot because of the shift among the characters and story lines.
