‘Suicide Squad’: B+ movie at best

Bad reviews didn’t stop DC’s “Suicide Squad” from setting a new box office record for August opening at $135.1 million, beating out the prior record holder, Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy.”

With cast members such as Will Smith, Margot Robbie and Jared Leto, there were high expectations amongst fans and crtitics, but just as Warner Bros.  “Batman V. Superman,” “Suicide Squad” did not live up to the hype.

A fantastic marketing campaign allowed for much excitement amongst fans, but the movie was eventually given a B+ rating from audiences.

The movie itself was enjoyable to watch but it felt as if it was at least four movies combined into one and the series could definitely benefit from a few prequels, as Marvel’s “Avengers” have done.

Many fans have even a spinoff movie that would go into further detail of the backstroy and relationship of the Joker and Harley Quinn.

Speaking of the Joker, many claim that Jared Leto’s extreme use of method acting was ultimately unwarranted.

While most of the performances and portrayals of characterswere lacking, Will Smith as Deadshot and Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, kept audiences invested and added both the humor and sentiment that made the movie personally enjoyable. Well, that and the killer soundtrack.
