Royals promise exciting season

Even though the Royals brought home the World Series trophy last October, projection programs don’t seem to be very optimistic about their chances to repeat a win.

So, the Royals may not be as good as their fans are hoping. Fangraphs, a projection program, is predicting a losing season for 2016.

The Royals are projected to win 79 games as opposed to last year’s 95 games, when they took the trophy in 2015.

PECOTA, another projection program, is saying that the Royals will have a 76-86 record, leaving the Royals in last place in the AL Central. However all of these predictions may not be accurate. For example, they were predicted to win 72 games and ended up winning 95 in the 2015 season.

I think that they are going to do better than the predictions are saying; the Royals still have a lot of talented athletes. However, I doubt that they are going to win the World Series again, but who knows. They may repeat history again.

All of the main players will be staying, except for Ben Zobrist, who signed a contract with the Chicago Cubs for four years. Many people last year claimed that the Royals got “lucky” winning the World Series and winning 95 games compared to the 72 predicted. Whatever happens this year, this season promises to be exciting; whether the Royals win the trophy or don’t, Royals fans should look forward to this year
