Memories made in production of Grease
March 2, 2016
“Grease” brought in large audiences all three nights, Jan. 28-30, selling out the 999-seat auditorium on Saturday.
“My favorite part of the show was the very beginning. I also enjoyed singing my solo a lot,” Alix Horspool, junior, said.
The experience was a memorable one for many of the cast and crew members. Many of them went out to eat after Thursday and Friday nights’ shows and had a cast and crew party after the show on Saturday night. They also created a lot of memories during the rehearsal process itself.
“My favorite memory was when we made an alternate plot to “Grease” and created an alternate gang to the Greasers,” Horspool said.
The set for the show included 10 foot platforms, and the cast had varied reactions to them.
“At first it was scary. But once I got used to it, they were awesome,” Horspool said.
Other parts of the rehearsal process also presented challenges.
“Getting the timing down for my solo was tough-and also the dance scene. I am not a dancer,” Horspool said.
The choreography for the show was complicated in some cases and was challenging for a lot of cast members.
“Dancing was difficult because I have two left feet and I can’t dance,” Taylor Trumble, junior, said.
Many of the people involved in the show participated in a spirit week, which is a lot of fun for the cast and crew and promotes the show to the student body.
“I participated in Greaser Day, Dress-up Day, and Show Shirt Day,” Horspool said.
Some cast members went all out for spirit week and in some cases, got weird reactions from other students who were not aware of the spirit week.
“I got weird stares. I did Rock-Star Day, Pink Ladies Day, PJ Day, Dress-up Day, and Show Shirt Day,” Trumble said.
