Austin Tran GPA 4.64
Austin Tran is number two in senior class as of last semester. For kids going into high school he recommends “Just to get involved with as much stuff as possible. Like me, personally, I feel like I’m pretty involved but I still wish I could be more involved,” Tran said. He also said that in high school he prioritized getting to know people. “ Just talk to as many people as possible, because you don’t want to walk across the stage in four years and be like, oh, I don’t know these people,” Tran said.
Lucas Rodriguez GPA 4.61
Lucas Rodriguez is in the top three students of senior class as of last semester. On a typical school night, he immediately goes home and does his work so there’s no time to procrastinate. Rodriguez is a part of ASU and track and really enjoyed being in both. Rodriguez has taken many AP classes, but there was one that was more difficult. “It was AP chem by far. That class is hard,” Rodriguez said. Being the top of his class means a lot to him. “It’s a big sense of pride for me and I had to work hard for it,” Rodriguez said.
Aiden Hayes GPA 4.57
Aiden Hayes is number 7 in senior class as of last semester. He said the best thing about highschool is “ Just the opportunity to be involved in the arts. I’ve been in band and choir since I got here, so just having the opportunity to be in all that is very good”, Hayes said. The most challenging class Hayes took in high school “ Probably from a purely, like, actual intellectual standpoint physics. Physics was a lot more material than most of the other classes i’ve taken”, Hayes said.
Naomi Theleman GPA 4.52
Naomi Theleman is also in the number 10 spot for senior class. Her favorite class in highschool “I would say probably, like one of my art classes. I think it’s fun to do and not as stressful as my core classes”, Theleman said. She also said that being at the top of her class is nice because, “I think it just shows that, like the work I put in, it pays off. It feels nice to be appreciated”, Theleman said.
Alexandria Ngo GPA 4.52
Alexandria Ngo is number 10 in senior class as of last semester. She said the balancing of school and her social life was challenging.“I would have to prioritize doing my homework first before I did any social stuff”, Ngo said. She also said the most difficult part of school for her. “I just think not procrastinating like, the workload definitely piles up, and if you don’t do it ahead of time, you’re gonna end up pulling all nighters”, Ngo said.
Grace Hartwell GPA 4.52
Grace Hartwell is in the top 10 of senior class as of last semester. On a regular school night for her “I have track practice after school, and then when I get home, I try to do as much homework as possible. Normally I get a lot of homework done in school because I take AP studies”, Hartwell said. Being at the top of her class means a lot to her “It feels pretty good and I feel pretty well accomplished to know that the work I put in actually shows”, Hartwell said.
Gracyn Cox GPA 4.49
Gracyn Cox is in the top 15 seniors as of last semester. On a typical school night she spends time hanging out with her friends then studies and does homework when she gets home. if she doesn’t have time to do it at night, she will wake up early and do it in the morning. Cox imparts some senior wisdom to others., “Surround yourself with people who are genuine,” Cox said. Working hard has its setbacks, as Cox explains., “The toll it takes on my mental health, like with stress and anxiety,” Cox said.
Sophia Schipper GPA 4.30
Sophia Schipper is in the top 50 students of senior class as of last semester. She said after high school “I plan to major in architecture, and I’m attending Iowa state university in the fall”, Schipper said. Her favorite memory from Olathe south is “Probably just all the football games, basketball games, definitely the close games were the most fun”, Schipper said. Her favorite class at Olathe South was “either AP language and composition with Mrs.Gibbens and of course falcon films, with Mr. Schwartz”, Schipper said.
Britton Scovill GPA 4.28
Britton was in the top 50 of the senior class as of last semester. She said balancing school and social life wasn’t hard “ I would say no, I just used my advisory time responsibly”, Scovill said. The most challenging class she took in high school was “ Honors English sophomore year with Mr. Gibbens”, Scovill said. She will also miss high school because “I’ll miss all my friends and all the fun activities we got to do”, Scovill said.
