I love Marvel and everything about the MCU. I know that superhero movies are all the same: There’s a conflict between the hero and the villain. The villain tends to attack the city or many people. The hero tries to stop them, but they fail. Then, they have a breakthrough.
At the movie’s end, the hero defeats the villain, sometimes killing them, depending on the hero. Marvel has had this continuous algorithm with many of its film franchises, either in different multiverses or were revealed to be canon.
This means official or authoritative source material for a fictional work in the fandom, in this case, the 2025 Marvel Film Captain America: Brave New World.
This movie takes place two years after the Marvel series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (2024), which takes place on Earth-616. The lead actor, Anthony Mackie, who plays Sam Wilson, is also known as The Falcon and now Captain America.
The movie came to theaters on February 14, 2025, and cost an estimated $180 million to construct, not including marketing costs.
The movie conveys the story of Sam Wilson attempting to manage to become the new Captain America and work for the president, Thaddeus Ross, also known as Red Hulk, who is a morally grey character but more or less of a villain in the film.
At the beginning of the film, it is revealed that the Wakandans created a new suit for Sam, who became Captain America. The suit had been created to resemble the original Captain America suit, which I find very endearing, as I had done some background research on the new suit and its origins.
Bucky Barnes had asked the Wakandan engineers to create a new suit for Sam, so he decided to pass his old wingsuit and the mantle of Falcon to his new sidekick, Joaquin Torres. He had also befriended an ex-super soldier who had once defeated the Winter Soldier and rescued other black super soldiers; he was detained by the US government and Hydra. By the time he was released, Isaiah, Joaquin, and Sam had all become close friends.
They all get invited to the white house for the president to discuss their newest discovery of adamantium, which is significantly stronger than Vibranium and can cut through almost any substance. One of my favorite aspects of the movie was how the movie portrayed the antagonist, Samuel Sterns, who was accidentally infected with Bruce Banner’s blood, aka The Hulk’s blood, via an open wound on his forehead, causing his brain to enlarge in size and become green as he had gained a superhuman intelligence and allowed him to use technology through light and sound to control minds.
What I also like about Samuel Sterns is that he doesn’t ever fight Sam; he instead relies on his intellect and uses the people as pawns in his game. Now, the main reason I wanted to go see this movie is because of The Red Hulk. I always thought that there was only one Hulk, the green one, but I was wrong. 11 Hulks have been seen in the MCU comics, and only seven confirmed in the movies so far.
I didn’t know who The Red Hulk was, I had only seen him in the movie trailer. I assumed that Samuel Sterns was using people as experiments to cause chaos in the city. Part of my theory was right, except Samuel Sterns wasn’t just experimenting on random people. Sterns is secretly dosing the President with gamma radiation via his medication, causing him to turn into The Red Hulk. The best villains are the calmest and most mysterious, and Sterns is just that. This movie wasn’t my favorite Marvel movie, however, I enjoyed the storyline and seeing almost a fresh new set of actors.
