Falcon football has finished the season with a 4-6 record.

With the team only two games away from a state title game, they ended the season with a 35-49 loss to Blue Valley High School.

“After the up and down season we had and how close the game was through out it was a tough loss” Jeremy Neil, sophomore, said.

After the 0-3 start, the “team started clicking” Craig Lewis, head coach, said. The team eventually went on to win three of their last five games to get a better playoff seed and to play teams with a worse record.

The run the team made started with a 28-21 win over cross town rivals Olathe East.

“The game against East gave us confidence that we as a team could do this and prove that we are getting better,” Neil said. Then they lost to Lawrence Free State and Lawrence High School. Finally, they wrapped up league play with wins over Leavenworth and Shawnee Mission North high schools before the playoffs began.

“We changed the hitting drills and just started clicking as a team, and we got healthy which made us push for the playoffs” Lewis said

During the playoffs, the team started with a 35-14 win over Olathe East. Then they lost to Blue Valley

The team’s understanding the coaches’ system and player development brought the team together.

“The coaches always harped on getting better every week which made the team click and work harder,” Neil said. This idea of getting better every week the coaches gave their players helped them have more confidence in each other.
